What people ask before they move.
Do I need a visa to come to Albania?
Entry and permitted stay depend on your nationality, travel document and any qualifying visa or residence permit you already hold. A short-stay entry exemption does not by itself settle the right to work. We confirm the applicable visa, residence and work requirements before you travel or start your activity.
Can I work in Albania on my residence permit?
Albania issues a unique permit that combines the right to reside and the right to work, so in most cases a single application covers both. The correct category depends on whether you are employed, self-employed, an investor, or working remotely for a foreign employer.
How long does a residence permit last?
Validity and renewal conditions depend on the permit category and any nationality-specific rules. Long-term or permanent residence requires a separate assessment of the applicable conditions. We confirm the relevant period and plan renewals before your current permission expires.
Can my family come with me?
Eligible family members may apply under family-reunification rules, subject to the sponsor’s status and the category-specific conditions. We check the family documents, accommodation and financial evidence and coordinate the applications.
PLANNING YOUR APPLICATION
Your business, your work and your residence.
We assess the proposed activity and each applicant’s circumstances before choosing a permit route. Company registration, permission to enter and permission to work each require their own assessment.
Does owning an Albanian company automatically give me residence or work rights?
No. A shareholding or company registration is not itself a residence or work authorisation. We assess what you will actually do in Albania and the requirements of the relevant employment, self-employment or investment route. Where there are two or more founders, each person’s eligibility and documents must be assessed separately.
What should I prepare before the first consultation?
Tell us your nationality, current country of residence, planned activity, intended arrival date and whether family members will accompany you. For a business route, describe the ownership, management role, proposed investment and operating plan. We then give you a route-specific document list and explain which documents require certification, legalisation or translation.
Can you give me a guaranteed approval date?
The authority decides the application. We plan preparation, filing, any follow-up requests and renewal dates, and distinguish our work from official processing. Before you commit to travel or a work start date, we explain the entry rules, the application sequence and which approval or exemption your activity requires. Our written proposal separates the initial application, family applications and later renewals.
Do UK, EU and US applicants follow the same immigration rules?
Not necessarily. Tell us your citizenship, where you legally live, the purpose and length of your stay, and whether you intend to work or run a business in Albania. We assess entry requirements, any residence or work application, and the rules applicable to your nationality. Living in an EU country is not the same as holding EU citizenship. The assessment also identifies any separate application needed for a spouse or child.
