The power sector is governed by Law No. 59/2026 "On the Power Sector" and regulated by the Energy Regulatory Authority (ERE), which licenses generation, trading, and supply. Renewable projects engage the renewable-energy promotion framework, including support auctions, while hydropower and certain infrastructure operate under concessions granted under Law No. 125/2013 "On Concessions and Public-Private Partnership".
